The first Playboy collaboration with Cardi B is now live. As the first creative director in residence of the iconic publication, Cardi is now promoting CENTERFOLD – a maker-led platform Playboy hopes will compete with OnlyFans.
On Friday (Dec. 23) Cardi shared the news via Instagram. “My first project with @playboy !!! introducing CENTERFOLD, so excited to share this platform with so many amazing creators @playboycenterfold,” she wrote.
In addition to the “WAP” rapper, a handful of Playboy playmates, adult entertainment stars, and fashion and fitness influencers will be part of the CENTERFOLD team.
The platform is now available to adults over the age of 18, who have been approved. There is a waitlist, but CENTERFOLD creators will be able to offer subscription-based services where they can keep 80% of all earnings, direct message their fans, stream live, and incorporate cryptocurrency. Nudity is allowed on the site, but pornographic material and services involving more than one individual are currently not allowed. Fans can now follow their favorite content creators on the site, including Cardi B.
According to a press release, CENTERFOLD is one of Playboy’s latest initiatives that seek to revitalize culture and sex at the intersection. The platform allows for artistic expression, creative freedom, and sex positivity.
“Creators today deserve to express themselves freely and unfiltered,” Cardi said in a statement. “They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what CENTERFOLD is all about. For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me.”
“Cardi B is a creative genius and we are absolutely thrilled and honored to bring her immense talent and creative vision to Playboy,” Ben Kohn, CEO of PLBY Group said in a press release. “Through her unapologetic commitment to free expression, her dedication to lifting up artistic voices and her celebration of sex and body positivity, Cardi is the embodiment of the Playboy brand … I also can’t think of a better creative visionary to partner with us on the launch of CENTERFOLD.”
Kohn says that the creator economy will be revolutionized just as Playboy magazine revolutionized the publishing industry nearly 70 years ago – and Cardi B is the perfect guide to this new era.
