In the upcoming scripted television series, Kansas City, Stallone will star as the lead.

According to Deadline, the three-time Oscar nominee has been cast as the mob boss in the upcoming Paramount+ drama, Kansas City, from Taylor Sheridan, known for Yellowstone and Terence Winter, known for The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire.

In his 50-plus-year career in show business dating back to 1968, the Rocky actor will be appearing in his first lead role in a TV series. During the start of his career, Stallone appeared on TV shows such as Police Story (1975) and Kojak (1975).

The film Kansas City tells the story of a New York City Italian mobster, played by Sylvester Stallone, who is forced to relocate to Kansas City, Missouri. The story takes place in present day, when mafia boss Sal (Stallone) struggles to reestablish his family in a straight-shooting Kansas City. While on this journey to power, Sal encounters unexpected and unsuspecting characters who follow him.

In addition to Taylor Sheridan, Terence Winter and Stallone, 101 Studios’ David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari will serve as executive producers. Winter will run the show as a showrunner, and there’s already a writers room up and running. Winter won an Oscar for his screenplay for Wolf of Wall Street.
