During the estate sale of an Indiana woman who recently passed away, an auction house reported that a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. 2 sold for an astounding $88,550.
The Auction company said, “At first glance, it was a comforting wave of classic Nintendo nostalgia. All the classics were there, Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, Qix, and even an NES console. So we did what any children of the 1990s would do: we fired up the console and tested the open games. It was a great day!”
“At a second glance, it was something else entirely. The seemingly ordinary collection included an extraordinary unopened copy of Super Mario Bros. 2. In May of 2021, the game received a 9.8 A+ rating from Wata Games in Denver, Colorado.”
A Florida businessman ended up buying the game for $88,550.
In July, a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 set a record when it was auctioned for $1.56 million. The previous record, set just two days earlier by a copy of The Legend of Zelda, was $870,000.
