A Hong Kong-based gaming platform, The Sandbox, had raised $93 million from investors to allow users to create a virtual world using non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
In the latest round, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2 led the investment.
Animoca Brands, the majority owner of The Sandbox, allows players to create their own virtual gaming experiences on the Ethereum blockchain and to own, own, and monetize them. The platform offers creators access to ownership as NFTs and tools to create assets.
As Sandbox expands beyond gaming into fashion, architecture, and virtual concerts, this investment will fuel the growth of the economy.
