In an unprecedented rise to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returns from Number 2 to No. 1. It’s the first time a song has topped the ranking in three separate runs in the history of the chart.
Carey’s song first appeared on her album Merry Christmas in 1994, and it entered the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time last December. As streaming has grown and holiday music has become more prominent on streaming services’ seasonal playlists, more and more people are streaming the song.
Although it has been in the top five for most of the holiday season, Mariah Carey’s top-rated song ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has climbed back to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With this week’s ranking, the song is now in its sixth week on the Hot 100, and it has become the first song to have reached the number one spot three times.
On the Streaming Songs chart, the song is now spending its 13th week at the top, and it tops the Holiday 100 chart for the 49th week in a row.
In the United States, the song has reached 4.3 billion radio listeners, 1.4 billion streams, and 3.7 million download sales since its release.
In addition to topping the Hot 100 of Dec. 21, 2019, Carey’s “Christmas” topped the list of Dec. 28, 2019, and Jan. 4, 2020.
