Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home a record-breaking nine awards, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

Swift’s video for her song “Anti-Hero” was named Video of the Year, beating out competition from Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lil Nas X. The song also won Song of the Year, while Swift herself was named Artist of the Year.

Swift also won awards for Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Album of the Year, and Show of the Summer.

Other big winners at the VMAs included Shakira, who received the Video Vanguard Award for her lifetime achievement in music videos; Nicki Minaj, who won Best Hip-Hop for her song “Super Freaky Girl”; and Anitta, who won Best Latin for her song “Funk Rave.”

The 2023 MTV VMAs were hosted by Doja Cat and took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The show featured performances by Olivia Rodrigo, Fall Out Boy, Metro Boomin with Future, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Swae Lee & NAV, and Peso Pluma.
