As if the jaw-dropping playlist from Pearl Jam’s 2023 tour launch wasn’t electrifying enough, the band cranked up the surprise factor on their second night. Fans at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota were treated to a rare rendition of Pink Floyd’s iconic “Brain Damage” – a melody the band hadn’t dabbled with since 2010! The evening was studded with more blasts from the past, like the revivals of “Severed Hand” from 2006 and “Got Some” from 2009. They also tip-toed into the heartland of Tom Petty with “I Won’t Back Down” and ended on a high with Prince’s “Purple Rain,” accompanied by the talented Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver.
