On Friday, Israel’s national health providers began administering the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine to patients with compromised immune systems.
Director-General of the Health Ministry Nachman Ash today approved boosters for immunosuppressed people because of the Omicron infection wave, provided at least four months had passed since their third shot.
On Friday morning, Ash approved vaccines for elderly patients at geriatric facilities. The ministry stated that this was done out of concern about possible outbreaks in such facilities and to protect residents’ health and lives.
Approximately 5,000 new cases were diagnosed on Thursday, according to the Health Ministry.
