The Israeli Government Orders Pfizer’s Covid-19 Treatment Pill Paxlovid

Israeli officials confirmed a television report on Saturday that Israel had ordered 100,000 units of Pfizer Inc’s anti-viral pill Paxlovid to treat people with severe illnesses at risk of viral infections, Pfizer Inc-made Covid-19.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla agreed to the deal over the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Channel 12 TV reported. The company did not confirm the report immediately.

The first oral and at home treatment for Covid-19, Paxlovid was nearly 90% effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths in patients at high risk of severe illness, according to data from Pfizer’s clinical trial. The drug continues to be effective against the Omicron variant, according to recent laboratory data.
