France announced Thursday that non-essential travel will be banned from Britain from the weekend in an effort to slow the spread of Omicron Covid-19, which is causing record numbers of cases on the other side of the channel.
According to Emmanuel Macron’s government, the ban will apply equally to unvaccinated and vaccinated travelers for both touristic and professional purposes.
As of midnight Saturday (23:00 GMT Friday), all travelers to and from the UK must have an essential reason. This includes neither the unvaccinated, nor the vaccinated. People will not be able to travel for touristic or professional reasons, A government statement said that French citizens and EU nationals would still be able to return to France from the UK.
