UAE Waters are being warned of jellyfish by the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi

A reminder has been issued by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) for beachgoers planning to enjoy UAE’s cooling waters.

During the summertime, the jellyfish populations along the coast reach their peak. However, right now is a time of year when beach visits from the general public tend to peak, making it the time when the two groups will likely overlap.

In Abu Dhabi waters, there are seven different species of these jellyfish, including the moon jellyfish and blubber jellyfish.

In UAE waters, most species’ stings result in itchy rashes or mild burning sensations. In case of significant pain, or if you suffer an allergic reaction, go to the hospital immediately.

The box jellyfish, found in Australia, is a representative of a group of species which include some of the most poisonous creatures on earth.
