As of Tuesday, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the ultra-low-cost national airline of the United Arab Emirates, began operating flights from the capital city to Samarkand, the country’s second-largest city. Currently, two flights a week are operated between Samarkand and Abu Dhabi; they will be increased to three flights a week in 2023.
The airline’s mobile application and its website are selling tickets at a starting price of Dh179. According to Michael Berlouis, Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the airline is pleased to expand operations in Central Asia, one of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s key market segments for growth. New Airbus A321neo aircraft have been added to our fleet to serve the new route.
Having launched in January 2021, the airline now flies to over 36 destinations within a five-hour flight time radius of Abu Dhabi.
CEO of Air Marakanda, stated the company had been working hard to make this happen, since it will allow residents of Samarkand and the surrounding area to travel more easily, as well as attract Middle Eastern tourists to our city as well.
