Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Has Covid; Will Miss Man City Match

Mikel Arteta will be unavailable for Arsenal’s match against Manchester City on 1 January after testing positive for Covid-19. At Emirates Stadium, Arteta’s assistant Albert Stuivenberg and Steve Round will be incharge for the game.

Players Takehiro Tomiyasu, Cedric Soares, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Calum Chambers were all missing in the 5-0 win over Norwich on 26 December after a positive test.

“Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well,” read an Arsenal statement.

The Gunners, who have won four of their past five league matches, are currently fourth in the table, 12 points behind Man City.

Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, will also miss the match since he is on national duty for his country Gabon preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations
