It is becoming more and more popular for big brands to explore the hype-driven metaverse in the Sandbox. Now, HSBC, Europe’s second-largest bank, and American megastar Paris Hilton, who is now a crypto enthusiast, are getting involved in The Sandbox

With HSBC’s new partnership with The Sandbox platform, the bank has purchased a virtual plot of LAND, the tokenized equivalent of digital real estate on The Sandbox platform. As a result of news that HSBC has acquired land in The Sandbox and Paris Hilton’s visit there, the metaverse token SAND has surged.

This plot of LAND will reportedly be put to use by the bank to foster gaming and esports activities.

“Through our partnership with The Sandbox we are making our foray into the metaverse, allowing us to create innovative brand experiences for new and existing customers,” the chief marketing officer of HSBC’s Asia-Pacific branch, Suresh Balaji, said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to be working with our sports partners, brand ambassadors, and Animoca Brands to co-create experiences that are educational, inclusive, and accessible.”

The Sandbox is a gaming platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that uses cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that promotes a crypto-and-gaming ecosystem. The Sandbox is part of the Animoca Brands group that is heavily involved in gaming and crypto.
