China’s XPeng Motors has begun teasing its new electric SUV, the fourth in its total fleet. XPeng has shared some clues about what the public can expect in Guangzhou next week during the Guangzhou Auto Show, although mystery surrounds this SUV more than actual specs.
Three electric vehicles are currently available from XPeng Motors, aka Xiaopeng Automotive. XPeng is a fast-growing automaker in China with three models. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary HT Aero, XPeng not only develops and manufactures EVs and vehicle software, but it also dabbles in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), developing eVTOLs.
In spite of only launching its first vehicle, the G3 SUV, in 2018, XPeng is rapidly becoming one of the best selling EV brands in China each month.
Recently, XPeng announced its third EV, a sedan called the P5. This EV is a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model 3 in China, but at a significantly lower price.
XPeng has left subtle clues about a fourth EV’s release, along with a new teaser image, suggesting it will be as large as the G3. Rumors have also begun circulating about what XPeng’s next EV will be.
According to a Tweet from XPeng Motors, the company is working on “a new breed of SUV.” Soon will be November 19, during Auto Guangzhou 2021, when the new EV is expected to be unveiled ahead of its arrival in the second half of 2022.
