This morning, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi announced its latest addition to their destination lineup – Asia’s most popular getaway, Sri Lanka. Specifically, it is Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport near Hambantota, located on the southeast coast of the teardrop island – and just a few kilometers from one of the most incredible safari experiences you can get outside of Africa, Yala National Park.
You can see leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, wild peacocks, hornbills, monitor lizards, blue-tailed bee-eaters, and the Sri Lanka gray hornbill. Mattala also has easy access to Udawalwe National Park, Arugam Bay, Nuwara Eliya, Yala National Park, and a bohemian beach trail.
From the beginning of June, Wizz Air will fly to Sri Lanka three times a week (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), with one-way fares starting at only AED 179. Tickets can be purchased at wizzair.com now.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s Managing Director, Michael Berlouis, spoke about the launch of the route, there is nothing that can compare to Sri Lanka as a vacation destination; the country offers beautiful beaches, rich cultural heritage, historical sites that date back 1000s of years, and even a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
