Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, the acting prime minister of Fiji, said Fiji and New Zealand are looking forward to normalizing all travel between the two countries.

On the 182nd anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, Sayed-Khaiyum sent a congratulatory message to New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. As Acting Prime Minister, Sayed-Khaiyum thanked New Zealand for providing Fiji with life-saving vaccines and direct budgetary assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Similarly, Sayed-Khaiyum says Fiji and New Zealand are longstanding partners and work together to build resilience to natural disasters and climate change.

Tonga has been provided assistance through the coordinated efforts of the Fijians, NGOs, faith-based groups, the Tongan Community, and other development partners, including New Zealand, which is a testament to our shared Pacific spirit of solidarity.

Fijian acting prime minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepen collaboration with New Zealand in the new normal in order to tackle global challenges and harness regional opportunities.
