For the first time in decades, Superman is getting an official update to his iconic motto, “Truth, Justice, and the American Way.”
The new motto is “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow,” a change announced by Jim Lee, chief creative officer and publisher of DC Comics at DC’s FanDome event on Saturday.
“To better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Superman’s incredible legacy of over 80 years of building a better world, Superman’s motto is evolving,” Lee said.
An alien immigrant raised by Kansas farmers, Superman grows to represent the ideals of America.
The character is seen as a symbol of patriotic values because his motto is “Truth, Justice, and American Way.”.
