Covid-19: India Sees Biggest Single-Day Increase In Seven Months

In the last 214 days, the number of coronavirus infections has risen above 100,000 for the first time, bringing the tally of Covid-19 cases in India to 35,226,386; 3,007 cases of Omicron have also been reported across 27 states and UTs, according to the Union Health Ministry. A total of 1,199 cases of Omicron have been reported so far.

The state with the most cases was Maharashtra, with 876, followed by Delhi with 465, Karnataka with 333, Rajasthan with 291, Kerala with 284 and Gujarat with 204.

In the country, coronavirus infections rose by 117,100 during the past day. According to the data updated at 8 am, the number of active cases increased by 371,363, the highest level in around 120 days. In addition, 302 new fatalities were recorded, bringing the death toll to 483,178.

Last year, the country reported 100,636 infections on June 7 of that year.
