Foldable phones are expected to grow tremendously in popularity in 2022 due to the influx of new players. As we saw last month, OPPO has entered the foldable sphere with the Find N. One more player is now about to introduce its own version of the foldable form factor. Recently Honor has been teasing its first foldable smartphone, the Magic V, for a few weeks. Today Honor revealed the launch date for the device.
As Honor confirmed today in a press release, it will launch the Magic V on January 10. The event will take place at 11:30 UTC in China. The accompanying teaser shared by Honor doesn’t reveal anything about the hardware, but it gives us a glimpse of the design.
In the image below, you can see the Honor Magic V will come with a triple camera setup on the back that will be hidden inside a rectangular module. The display also sports a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera centered on the middle.
According to last month’s teaser, the Honor Magic V will have an inward-folding design and flat edges similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. In all likelihood, the phone will feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Honor Magic V will only be available in China, at least initially, like previous Honor smartphones. Although Honor has not confirmed whether the phone will come to international markets, it will compete with devices like the OPPO Find N, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the Huawei Mate X2.
There isn’t much information available at this point on Honor Magic V’s internal hardware. But with its launch less than a week away, we won’t have to wait long to find out more.
