The Philippines government said on Friday that Filipinos who have been adequately vaccinated and are traveling from the UAE will no longer need to go through quarantine upon arrival, effective February 1.

As of February 10, foreign tourists who have been vaccinated will also be allowed entry into the Southeast Asian country. A negative RT-PCR test result will have to be presented by all fully jabbed travellers within 48 hours of departure.

In addition, as a result of the new decision, the Philippines would no longer classify nations by colour for its Covid protocols. Previously, nations were categorized as red, yellow, and green.

In addition, Presidential spokesperson said that travelers would need to monitor themselves for seven days, starting with the day they arrived in the country. Those experiencing symptoms should contact their respective local government units.

The following vaccination proofs must be presented by arriving passengers:

  • VaxCertPH
  • VaxCertPH under a reciprocal arrangement, unless otherwise permitted by the Philippines government
  • World Health Organisation international certificates of vaccination
  • National/state digital certificate of the government which has accepted

Government officials said those who are unvaccinated, partially immunized, or who cannot prove their vaccination status will be required to undergo facility-based quarantine until their PCR test results are released on the fifth day.

White sand beaches and a rich marine life draw tourists to the Philippines, one of the Southeast Asian countries that reopened to tourists to boost jobs and help their economies. The number of tourists arriving in the Philippines from top markets such as Japan, South Korea, and China dropped 83 percent to 1.4 million last year.
