In response to a stampede that claimed dozens of lives at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival, Nike has paused its next sneaker collaboration with the Cactus Jack entertainer.
Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1‘s Baroque Brown and Saturn Gold colorways were originally set to release on Dec. 16.
“Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” According to a statement that appears at the top of Nike’s SNKRS app feed.
Travis’ Nike Air Max 1 has been teased throughout the last few months, and these two styles will reportedly be part of a collection with five different colourways. As of now, the Baroque Brown makeup was prereleased at Houston’s Space Village via Nike SNKRS Pass a few days prior to Astroworld, making those the only official pairs available.
Although it is unclear what will become of the Air Max 1s postponed from last year, this isn’t the only anticipated Cactus Jack collaboration to arrive in the near future. Additionally, the artist has plans to release a set of Nike Air Trainer 1s and a new pair of Air Jordan 1 Lows, although no dates have been announced.
